Western Art History



The UCLA Department of Art History invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor’s position specializing in any field of European or American art and/or architecture between 1100 and 1900, to start July, 2010.  The department seeks candidates with broad orientations in their fields, and whose work takes advantage of varying theoretical perspectives and challenges the canon of Western art and architecture with respect to transcultural developments.  The successful candidate will teach a range of undergraduate and graduate courses in a diverse intellectual environment.  Ph.D. in art history or related field required; publications and teaching experience preferred.  Salary commensurate with education and experience.  Please send a letter of application, a current CV, a sample publication (or dissertation chapter), and the names of three referees to Professor Dell Upton, Chair, Department of Art History, 100 Dodd Hall, UCLA, Box 951417, Los Angeles, CA 90095-1417 by January 5, 2010.  Tracking number 0555-0910-01.  The University of California is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer.  Women and minority candidates are encouraged to apply.
