HAUSA GREETINGS


As in all African cultures, any encounter must begin with a series of greetings--itis unforgiveably rude to meet someone and immediately begin discussing businesswithout exchanging greetings about the health of welfare of the participants,their families, etc. Here is a typical sequence of greetings that mighttake place when a man encounters his friend at work. 'How's the day been?'
