Sung Deuk Oak

Dongsoon Im and Mija Im Scholar
Assistant Professor of Korean Christianity

Dr. Oak received his Th. D. from Boston University in History of Christianity, Th. M from Princeton Theological Seminary, Th. M. & M. Div. from Presbyterian Theological Seminary, and B. A from Seoul National University. He is broadly interested in the encounters of Western cultures and religions with Korean religious cultures. He is completing two books on the rise of Korean Christianity, which investigate the Chinese and Manchurian connections with early Korean Protestantism and the indigenization of North American Christianity in Korea. He is completing 5 volume series of H. G. Underwood Papers, multi-volume series of Historical Documents of the Korean Bible Society, 3 volumes of History of the Korean Bible Society, and editing Sources of the Revival Movement in Korea. He published English Primary Sources of the Korean Revival in 2007 and Sources of Korean Christianity in 2004.
