Format for Submissions
EDITORIAL GUIDELINES FOR MANUSCRIPTS SUBMITTED FOR PUBLICATION
VisuaLink Stylesheet Form
• Must be in the most current Chicago format. The Chicago
Manual of Style (15th ed) is available from any bookstore or university
library. You may also consult the Chicago Manual website http://www.libs.uga.edu/ref/chicago.html
. Papers will be returned to authors for correction if not in the proper format.
Manuscipt form
• Double-spaced, 10 pages maximum (excluding footnotes).
• You should submit your paper and captions on a computer disk or email
attachment. You must submit a hard copy of both your paper and the captions.
• A xerox is fine. If you must make handwritten corrections (in a different
color ink!), please do not have more than 2-3 sentences. Any more and the
paper will be returned to the author.
• Title your paper and place your name beneath the title; put the name
of your university at the foot of your article.
• Also, you must include on the disk your caption list (Title, Author,
date, medium, size, location, Credit/Courtesy line). Do not expect us to type
this in from your xeroxed copies.
IMPORTANT! You are personally responsible for accuracy, copyrights, and reproductions on photomaterial, as well as the quality of the photo, the proper location of the citation, and the attendant permission to reproduce it.
Images
• You must provide a clear xeroxed image of each figure you wish to
include in your paper. In the text itself, please denote the image as (Figure
1), (Figure 2), etc. The maximum number of figures allowed for publication
is 7. A maximum of 5 is suggested. Start writing for photo permissions (copyrights,
etc.) IMMEDIATELY!
Computer Disk Requirements
• We can accept disks created on either a PC or a MAC. If the word processing
program that you have used is not a common one, we can try to convert it.
However, if it is very uncommon, you should save the document as an ASCII
file. If any of this poses a problem, please contact us before submitting
your disk or sending an email attachment.
NOTE: Sending disks through the U.S. Postal Service can damage disks. Please
use some sort of appropriate disk mailing container and send either by UPS
or FedEx.
