WELCOME
to Incoming 2006-2007 UCLA Art History Graduate Students
On
behalf of the UCLA Art History graduate student, faculty,
and staff community, we want to extend an early welcome to
the department as summer begins. We're all looking forward
to meeting you in the fall! In an effort to ease the transition
to Los Angeles (for many of you) and graduate study at UCLA
(for all of you), we've designed an informal orientation
website with links to other useful sites. We'll also do our
best to keep this page updated with any news that arises over
the summer. Sometime in August, a student handbook will
be mailed to each of you. In the meantime, we hope the resources
below are of help. |

Several
years ago, we also began a "mentorship" program of sorts, in order to
connect each interested incoming student with someone already in the
program. If you would like your very own mentor, a familiar face upon
the first day of classes, or just someone to contact with questions
or concerns over the summer, please email Amanda
Herring with your name, summer email address and telephone number,
and academic areas of interest. Friendly mentors are lined up and waiting!

annual potluck. Join us for lunch. Meet and welcome the
new grad students! Enjoy the newly-renovated grad offices!!
Art History is
providing a variety of sandwiches, roasted red potato
salad, fruit, lemon bars and sparkling/bottled waters.
But contributions from all of you – such as additional
side salads and dishes, chips/dips, crudités, desserts,
sodas, etc. are needed. Please contact Ed Rothfarb at

to let him know what you’ll be bringing to the feast.
