2:00 pm Welcoming Remarks 2:15 Geraint Jenkins (Centre for Advanced Welsh and Celtic Studies, University of Wales), "Iolo Morganwg: Romantic Virtuoso, Bard of Liberty and the Father of Modern Welsh "Nationalism" 3:15 Break 3:30 Ann Ffrancon Jenkins (National Library of Wales at Aberystwyth), "Wicked and Wonderful: The National Library of Wales" 4:30 A Performance of Music from and about Wales, organized by UCLA Sounds Professor Jenkins is Director of the Centre for Advanced Welsh and Celtic Studies of the University of Wales in Aberystwyth. He is the author of numerous works on early modern Welsh history and culture, and the General Editor of the multi-volume -Social History of the Welsh Language-, published by the University of Wales Press. Professor Jenkins comes to UCLA as a Visiting Professor with the Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies. Ms. Francon Jenkins is Head of Access and Marketing at the National Library of Wales at Aberystwyth. A native of Dolgellau, Gwynedd, she was trained as a librarian and has worked in cultural librarianship, literary research, publishing and marketing. She was appointed to her current post in January, 2002. Parking: Campus parking permits may be purchased for $7 on the day of the event from any UCLA Parking Services kiosk.
