
PEOPLE
Faculty have diverse research and teaching interests
which encompass the Indo-European roots and post-Classical
heritage of Greek and Roman civilization as well as
the ancient languages and literature. Areas of specialty
include cultural and gender studies, literary criticism
and theory, linguistics, papryology, archaeology and
ancient philosophy. Faculty enjoy a reputation for
excellence in teaching (the program was ranked in the
top 10 nation-wide for graduate program effectiveness
in the most recent report by the National Research
Council).
Most administrative staff are housed in Dodd Hall 100. The
Department telephone number is (310) 825-4171. The Student Affairs Officer is housed in Dodd Hall 212A. The Visual Resource Collection
and staff are located in Dodd 220 and 247. Areas
of support include accounting, fund and grant management,
academic personnel, student affairs, events, course and
classroom scheduling.
