Performer, activist, and self-described "political art piece," Robert Legorreta / Cyclona (1952- ) met the painter Mundo (Edmundo) Meza when both were in their early teens and would run "up and down Whittier Boulevard in this semidrag to open people's minds." The two activist-artists remained close friends and collaborators until Meza's death from AIDS in 1985.
This image is from a page of photographs of Mundo in a scrapbook in The Fire of Life: The Robert Legorreta/Cyclona Collection in the UCLA Chicano Studies Research Center archive.
For more information about Legorreta see the interview by Jennifer Flores Sernad and the essay by Robb Hernandez.
