Financial Aid for Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Students - This site, sponsored by FinAid.org, describes a number of scholarships available to lesbian, gay and bisexual students--from regional awards for high school and undergraduate students to graduate scholarships. These scholarships offer a variety of criteria for eligibility. This is not an exhaustive list of all the possible sources of scholarships.
LGBT Life at UCLA
The LGBT Campus Resource Center provides a wealth of services and resouces for students, faculty, and staff at UCLA. It is home to the Rae Lee Saporin Library, a collection of nearly 4000 books and periodicals written for and about LGBT people, and the David Bohnett Cypercenter, a safe space for students to use new computers, print papers, and scan articles and photos. Its staff offers educational workshops and training seminars for classes, campus agencies, and departments as well as confidential assistance and support to those who feel they have experienced harassment or discrimination, or who have questions around issues of health, housing, financial aid, classroom, and personnel.
The center sponsors a number of support and discussion groups and maintains an invaluable list of lgbt undergraduate, graduate, and alumni organizations at UCLA.
The UCLA GLBT Mentoring Program pairs volunteer mentors with students in need of advice and support.
LGBT Studies at Other Colleges and Universities
John G. Younger maintains the most complete online list of University LGBT/Queer Programs in the USA and Canada.
Other University of California campuses offer programs similar to the LGBT Studies Program at UCLA. At Berkeley, a minor in LGBT Studies is housed in the Department of Gender and Women's Studies. The Women and Gender Studies Program at Davis sponsors an interdisciplinary minor in Sexuality Studies. The Women's Studies Program at Irvine offers a minor in Queer Studies. At Riverside the minor in Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Intersexual, and Transgender Studies is independent of other units. At Santa Barbara a minor in LGBTQ Studies is offered by the Women's Studies Program.
The Program in Human Sexuality Studies at San Francisco State University offers undergraduate minors in LGBT and Human Sexuality Studies as well as an M.A. in the latter. SFSU also hosts the National Sexuality Resource Center, which disseminates information and research on sexual health, education and rights.
City College of San Francisco has the only Department of Gay, Lesbian, and Bisexual Studies in the United States.
Duke University's Program in the Study of Sexualities is an undergraduate Certificate-Granting Program.
Cornell University's Program in Lesbian, Bisexual & Gay Studies includes courses that study sexuality and sexual minorities from a variety of perspectives: anthropological, psychological, sociological, biological, political, historical, literary, and artistic.
The Lesbian and Gay Studies Program at SUNY, Purchase allows students to minor lesbian and gay studies.
The Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies (CLAGS) located at CUNY is the first university-based research center in the United States dedicated to the study of historical, cultural, and political issues of vital concern to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered individuals.
At the University of Chicago, the Lesbian and Gay Studies Project (LGSP) coordinates graduate and undergraduate courses, provides financial support to graduate students, and organizes conferences and ongoing workshops.
