| The UCLA Linguistics Department welcomes applications from students interested in pursuing the Ph.D. degree. The department currently has approximately 50 graduate students, including 15 foreign students. The admissions process is highly competitive; those offered admission are provided with full financial support, with commitments up to five years. Support packages include tuition, fees, and salary or stipend, and normally involve a mixture of fellowship, research assistantship, and teaching assistantship. |

For admissions materials, the easiest way to proceed is electronically, through the Web site of UCLA's Graduate Division. The electronic form can be used in place of a paper application by both U.S. and international applicants. If you would like a paper copy of the application forms, please contact the Department's Student Affairs Officer. We are not the only linguists at UCLA. The UCLA graduate programs in English, Teaching English as a Foreign Language, Applied Linguistics, Indo-European Studies, and specific foreign languages have separate admission processes.
