Quechua: Language of the Incas

12 Units

Last week
of June through
second week
of August
Quechua, the major language of the Andes, is spoken
by millions in a large area extending from southern
Colombia through Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and into
northern Argentina and parts of Chile
This 12 unit course covers the material usually presented over the
course of an academic year and satisfies the College of Letters
and Science foreign language requirement.
 In addition to
classroom instruction, students will use a new interactive video
program developed at UCLA and filmed in Bolivia, housed in a
specially equipped room in the Instructional Media Lab.  Video
and audio copies of the course material may also be borrowed
for private use during the course.

Because of special grant funding, the course is available at a special
program fee that comes out to far less than the fee for comparable
intensive language programs.

On-campus housing for the eight-week program, including room
and board, is available for approximately $1709.

Classes meet Monday through Friday, 9:00 am - 12:00 noon.
In addition, five hours of language lab are required weekly.
