This Fall I'll offer a Graduate Seminar on Medieval Logic.
The course will be based on a text I am writing on the topic. The aim
of the text is to give an account of a kind of notation, and semantics
for that notation, that is presupposed by medieval authors on logic. Various
medieval doctrines will be formulated and criticized.
Familiarity with the Predicate Calculus with relation
symbols and identity will be presupposed.
Students will have an option of writing a research paper
or doing weekly problem sets.
The course is currently scheduled to meet on Thursdays
3-6 in Dodd 399.
