Graduate Study of Religion at UCLA

Currently, the Center for the Study of Religion at UCLA does not sponsor any graduate degrees in the comparative study of religion. However, there are many opportunities to study religious topics at the graduate level at UCLA. There are several programs devoted to the study of particular religions at the university, and it is possible to concentrate on fields related to religious phenomena in other departments.  (See below for a partial list.)  In addition, faculty in a variety of disciplines have teaching and research interests related to the study of religion.

Graduate Publications

Graduate students at UCLA also make up one of  two editorial boards for Epoche, the University of California Journal for the Study of Religions.  For more information on the journal, click here for the UCSB Epoche web page.  Many other graduate journals at UCLA also publish articles relevant to the study of religion.  Links to these will be added as time permits.

Other Universities

Several other universities in the UC system or in the Los Angeles region have graduate departments of religion or theology.  See the CSR links page for a full list.
