  1. How do I know if my web browser is correctly configured for Ecampus/WebCT?
  2. My web browser isn't compatible. Where can I download a new one?
  3. I can see some documents and links but not others. How can I fix my browser?
  4. How can I disable pop-up blockers?
  5. Where can I download plug-ins to view audio and video files?

1. How do I know if my web browser is correctly configured for Ecampus/WebCT?

Please use the built-in Browser Check tool to see whether your browser is validated for use with WebCT. You can access this tool by clicking Check Browser in the upper right of the Ecampus Entry page or any page within Ecampus after you have logged in. If you receive a message that your browser isn't validated, you should download a new one as described below in Question 2.

Next, follow all instructions for the Browser Tune-Up (follow the link after clicking Check Browser or go to www.webct.com/tuneup). This will ensure that your browser is properly configured. To view all features of Ecampus correctly, you must have java, javascript, cookies, and pop-up windows enabled.

The Ecampus server also uses SSL (secure socket layers) for secure transmission of data, so your web browser must support 128-bit encryption. The following URLs will help you test whether your browser has the proper SSL settings enabled:

3. I can see some documents and links but not others. How can I fix my browser?

The most likely cause of this problem is a pop-up blocker installed somewhere on your computer. Some items on the course website, like handouts, links, and discussion posts, may attempt to open in new windows. If your computer has disabled pop-up windows, you will not be able to open these links. Please enable pop-up windows on your computer while you are using Ecampus (sometimes you can configure your software to allow pop-ups in Ecampus but not in other sites).

NOTE: Changing the settings in your web browser may not be enough. Remember that security and anti-virus programs can include pop-up blockers.

4. How can I disable pop-up blockers?

5. Where can I download plug-ins to view audio and video files?

In most cases your browser will automatically download and install these plug-ins for you. If not, please use:
