Student Help: Self-Registering for a Course Website

  1. What is self-registration?
  2. Why would I want to self-register for a course site?
  3. How do I self-register for a course site?

1. What is self-registration?

Self-registration allows you to add a course site to your existing Ecampus account, even if you are not enrolled in the class. By self-registering, you give yourself student-level access to the selected course site. You must already have a valid Ecampus account (student, instructor, TA or guest) to add a class to your course list using self-registration. Self-registration is generally only available during the first two weeks of the quarter, during the add/drop period, unless the instructor has chosen to enable it longer.

If you do not have an Ecampus account, click here for information on how to request a guest account.

2. Why would I want to self-register for a course site?

You might want or need to view a course site even though you are not officially enrolled in the course. Reasons for this might include: you recently added the class and are awaiting processing through the Registrar and Ecampus, but need immediate access to the materials; you want to see what a course is like before you enroll in it; or you are an auditor or other non-standard student who won't (or can't) enroll through the UCLA Registrar. In all these cases, if you already have an existing Ecampus account, you can self-register for a course site.

3. How do I self-register for a course site?

You must already have a valid Ecampus account (student, instructor, TA, or guest) to use this feature.

  1. Click http://ecampusce.humnet.ucla.edu to open the Ecampus entry page.
  2. Click Log in to myWebCT and enter your Ecampus username and password.
  3. On the next page, in the top row of buttons, click Add Course.
  4. Using the listing options (View by term, View by category) find the course you wish to add.
  5. Under the Self-registration column, click the pencil icon.

Note: If the instructor has disabled self-registration you will not see a pencil icon for your chosen course. If this is the case, you may click here for information on how to request guest access.

If you do not have an Ecampus account, click here for information on how to request a guest account.
