Importing ("Ripping") Audio Files from a CD:
On a MAC:
- Insert CD into computer.
- When disc icon appears, double-click to open.
- Drag and drop the audio files you wish to copy into your project folder on the computer.
On a PC:
- Insert CD into computer.
- Open iTunes (click here to download)
- Import audio files into iTunes
- You can change the encoding to MP3 in iTunes (as well as a few other encodings).
Digitizing Audio Files from Other Sources:
When audio files come from sources other than CDs, such as an audio-cassette, we recommend that you make an appointment with your department's ITC to help you with the capturing and conversion process.
