W3 Consortium's HTML tutorials and an HTML interactive tool that lets you view and manipulate examples.

Getting started with HTML - an introduction to HTML by Dave Raggett, including tutorials on more advanced features.

The Easiest HTML Guide for Beginners - This is a very simple, basic HTML tutorial. It's a good "crash course."

HTML for Technophobes
- This is exactly what it sounds like; an introduction to HTML and making web pages for those less than thrilled with all things computer. It's well done, and not at all intimidating.

HTML Primer
- This is a seven lesson introduction to HTML, starting from the basics, and introducing the essential tags, placing images, links, colors. It includes simple explanations of tables, and yes, even frames. The lessons are well organized. For the more adventurous, there is even a short introduction to Java script.

Tutorials for Web Developers: HTML
- This is a good place to look if you want to know about something specific, like building tables or using special characters.

Writing HTML: A Tutorial for Creating Web Pages
- This particular tutorial, from the Maricopa Center for Learning and Instruction, at Maricopa Community College, is designed to be downloaded and worked on off line. It's particularly useful for those who like to work off line. All the files and the instructions, are there. There are links at the bottom of the page to HTML tutorials in Spanish, Japanese, Icelandic, Italian, and Korean.
