Image of Farsi in use around Los Angeles

The cardboard sign in the window of this bookstore is left over from March. It says "'Eid-e shoma mobarak," the traditional wish for a happy new year on the first day of spring. (Norooz, literally "new day", is the word used for the new year's day and celebration.) Four-leafed clovers have no particular significance in Iran -- on this sign, they probably just symbolize the fresh growth and greenery of a new spring.
