Journals - These links have been selected base upon two criteria.  They are publications touching on the study of late antiquity and have some type of online access to contents information.  Journals are continuously adding to their online presence, so the descriptions below might not reflect the most recent additions.

Guides to Journals:

  • History Journals Guide - Provides an extensive database of journals devoted to the study of history, organized by period and area, with a brief description of each journal and links to online information when available.
        HJG: Antiquity - List focused on the study of Antiquity from the History Journals Guide.
        HJG: Middle Ages - List focused in the study of the Middle Ages from the History Journals Guide.
  • Table of Contents of Journals of Interest to Classicists (TOCS-IN) - Searchable database of tables of contents voluntarily provided.  An extensive list of journals.
  • Bibliotheca Classica Selecta - Annotated bibliography of journals concerned with classical studies.  Belgian site in English.
  • Journal Storage - Database of academic journals providing table of contents and articles online.  Only a limited selection of history journals or journals on late antiquity.
  • Bryn Mawr Electronic Resources Review - Online information and reviews of electronic resources available for the study of antiquity and late antiquity.
  • Project Muse - A subscription service, individually or by campus affiliation, coordinated by Johns Hopkins University to provide online access to tables of contents, articles, and reviews from over 100 journal titles.
  • Periodicals Contents Index - An electronic index to the contents of thousands of periodicals of the humanities and social sciences, provided as a subscription service, individually or by campus affiliation.  Free trial access is available.  Index includes many journals which do not have online access of their own.
  • Medieval Feminist Index - A searchable database and index of articles and essays related to Women's Studies and the Middle Ages.  Search by author, title or subject provides citation and brief synopsis of articles.
  • Magazine Stacks: Table of Contents of Historical Journals and Monograph Series in German - Searchable index of German historical journals.

  • Journal of Early Christian Studies - Provides online versions of articles and book reviews from the journal beginning with Spring 1996.  Some articles and reviews are downloadable in Acrobat PDF format.
