COURSE DESCRIPTION: A Spanish course for students interested
in careers in medicine and health sciences. The class is structured
around a variety of medical themes, such as hospital admissions,
a physical exam, cancer, and pediatrics, and includes readings,
vocabulary building, and role playing, as well as a review of
important aspects of Spanish grammar.
CLASS CREDIT: 4 units; optional 2 additional units available
to students interested in a field service component, which will
entail volunteer work in a community hospital or clinic serving
Spanish-speaking patients.
PREREQUISITE: Two years of college-level Spanish or equivalent.
